Project: Forest In The Forest—Home For The Seediq In Checheng, Taiwan
School: School of Architecture, Tianjin University

Concept
We hope to create a space under the tree in the forest , where tourists and people living in the town can wander around as in forests to feel the fusion of man and nature. Our aim is to create a smooth sequence of differing materials . While people wandering about the building ,they can observe flowing light and shadow , absorbed in magical illusions reflecting by mirrors and glass. People are unable to tell whether they are living in building or in forest, where everyone lives in harmony with nature.

Background
This project is located in Che Cheng,Taiwan Province,Where the Seediq, original inhabitants lived in Ali Mountain, hunted and lived for generations. Nowadays, the Seediq are forced to leave the forest and move to the town. However, they are still looking forward to getting back to the forest where they really belong to.The project is aimed at providing a space for the Seediq to experience forest life again and promoting communications between urban and nature.
